I started Metal Lust Jewellery in 2018 I wanted to make jewellery without putting boundaries on my love of making and be true to myself in my creativity. Making jewellery has saved my mental health, it’s meditative and purposeful and I get lost in hours of making. I love transforming treasured junk and objects into jewellery from bubble wands to jubilee clips, as well as making a vast range of earring studs that are sustainable handmade and affordable.
I’ve always dreamed of having my own business making jewellery since I graduated in Metalwork & Silversmithing in 2006. (Jewellery making wasn’t allowed)
Having worked at a well known trade counter in Hatton garden I learned much about the jewellery trade. I’ve always had a bench at home making private commissions and small jewelllery collections. I worked and continue to work for a local jeweler and friend for the last 16 years in her shop/studio. After having two kids I knew it was time to focus on my passion and creativity. It began in my summer house and then I started selling through local pop ups and The Pop Up Club - a fixed monthly pop up.
In 2019 I started teaching monthly jewellery classes out of my friend’s shop, which I absolutely love! Even though I wasn’t confident in the beginning I loved sharing my knowledge and jewellery geekery! I love watching students gain their own confidence and come away with their own handmade ring or bangle!
Finally this year my husband is building my dream studio space at the bottom of the garden. This is somewhere I want to continue teaching one to one and small groups and have a purpose built space where I can grow my handmade business.
